Hello and bonjour,
I would like to thank
you for visiting my
web site and taking
the time to research
your candidates for the 2008 municipal election in Coquitlam.
Being a hometown boy, I have seen the city change greatly over the past 40 years. I know my community well and I understand its successes, struggles and troubles. In fact, most of the city's residents have lived here for decades and for good reason: This is a wonderful place to raise a family, to enjoy nature and recreational activities, and to work nearby with decent-paying jobs.
At one time, I have probably met you or your kids at school; at baseball, soccer, hockey games and other community events; at work; or on past campaign trails.
I bring to Coquitlam city council experience, involvement, dedication, creativity and — most of all — a desire to serve you, and only you: The residents and taxpayers of our city.
Leadership
- Continue with the community design of SkyTrain stations in our city
- Add more police officers as I called for in the last two elections
- Lobby to get our fair share of transferable tax dollars from regional and senior governments
- Protect Riverview Hospital lands by listing the grounds as a national historic site
Vision
- Keep residential taxes low and keep city services fiscally responsible
- Enhance community police stations, add a community police station in Maillardville
- Support the increased protection for Coquitlam Fire/Rescue
- Get more funding from our senior levels of government for flood protection and sand removal of our major rivers
- Continue to update our emergency plan to prepare for the event of a major disaster
- Build a major east-west thoroughfare that connects us regionally between Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Mission
- Press for better bus service
- Continue to do the neighbourhood public works program of repaving roads, sidewalks and lighting
Good government
- Review the higher costs of business licences, permits and connection fees and compare them to other local cities
- Review how problems are handled in all city departments
I have attended most city council meetings since the municipal election in 2002 and, as a result, I have kept the mayor and council accountable by asking important questions on various aspects of city business that are before the public. A lot of issues and suggestions that I’ve made would not have come about if I were not there working on my community’s behalf.
I look forward to your support on election day
November 15, 2008.
Thank you and merci,
Harry Warren

SkyTrain flip flop flip
After years of flip-flopping the provincial government announced this year that SkyTrain - not LRT - will be the technology for rapid transit from Burnaby to Coquitlam Town Centre.
