As a frequent skiier, hockey player, mountain biker and runner, I support sports — especially for youth — and the expansion of local recreational sites. As part of my platform, I will advocate for:
• More lighted-artificial turf fields
• The renovation of the Poirier sports centre
• A dedicated off-leash trail for dog walkers
• The Coquitlam Town Centre tournament site, especially to attract major sporting events and, in turn, bolster sports tourism
• Sports user groups, especially those that have funding challenges
• Increased women's sporting activity, like the gender equity initiative
• The Get Active! program to encourage Coquitlam residents to get fit
• Local tourism and business spinoffs from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games
