Leadership is about knowing when to lead. In 2002 and 2005, Harry put his name forward
for the mayor's job after wrong policies were implemented in the city.
Now, Harry is running for city council to help the mayor and council move forward
in a positive way.
Good government begins with leadership and a vision. It's about preparing the city
for changing needs and encouraging city council and staff to be able to recognize
when decisions need to be made and when to stay the course. It's about being
sensitive to the residents' and taxpayers' desires and communicating that effectively
to everyone that is involved at every level of a project. It's about having
neighbourhood input that can help this city evolve without leaving parts of our
community behind. It's a balancing act when it comes to making decisions.
We need someone like Harry who
is easy to talk to, is willing to listen
to your concerns and is able to
understand complexities of our
local government and translate them
in a way that's understandable to
everyone. We need someone like
Harry who is able to speak up at the
council table and to carry themselves
in a professional and polite manner --
and not have the petty battles in front
of the gallery, TV cameras and the
press.
